What is ExpertVoices?

Would you like to add your voice to STV News and Current Affairs programmes?

Expert Voices is an initiative that supports people who want to share their experience or knowledge as a contributor to our news shows. Our database makes is easier for producers and editors to find people that offer diverse perspectives and represent a range of views on topical issues.

If you’re interested in being considered as a contributor, simply complete the form below.

As an independent and impartial broadcaster, our production teams will conduct their own due diligence and contributor assessments when selecting contributors to our news reports. Inclusion in our contributor database does not mean that STV recommend or endorse or validate the information you have submitted.

The provision of sensitive information is entirely voluntary and by providing the information below, you give STV News permission to process and store your information, and share it with the STV News Team for the journalism and programme production purposes. STV News will store and otherwise process your information in accordance with our Privacy Notice. This sets out how we use your personal information, your rights, including the right of access, to correct inaccurate information, and delete your information, and how we keep your information secure.

When you upload your information onto our digital platform you confirm that the information is true and accurate. By submitting this form, you agree to be bound by STV’s Terms of Use.

Privacy Notice

We are STV Central Limited and STV North Limited (collectively referred to as “STV News”). This privacy notice sets out how STV News (as Data Controllers) collect and use the information that you have provided in accordance with data protection law.

Your information is held securely within our STV News Expert Voices Contributor Database. It is shared internally with our news gatherers, journalists, and producers to consider and select contributors for our content, including news and other programmes. Please note that inclusion on our database does not guarantee contact and does not guarantee you will feature in our content. The selection process for our news content is at the sole discretion of STV News production teams.

  • Information about your area of expertise, including your occupation, employer, knowledge
  • Publicly available information, including information on your website and social media

How we obtain the personal information and why we have it:

Where you upload your information onto our database, we rely on our legitimate interests to produce media content, to process your information for the following purposes:

  • To contact you
  • To maintain a database of potential contributor experts who wish to participate as contributors in our television programmes and news content
  • To share the information with our journalists and producers for contribution selection purposes:

We will review our database every three (3) years to make sure you still wish to be involved, and will keep your information only for as long as you wish to remain registered.

If you have any concerns about the way in which STV has handled your information which is not resolved to your satisfaction, you are entitled to lodge a concern with the Information Commissioners Office (“ICO”) - www.ico.org.uk.
